IP Phone Keepalive with CCM

Hi all,

just a quick clarification about CCM service parameters.

In the CCM 4.1(3) there is two fields:

- Station Keepalive = 30 default

- Station and Backup keepalive 60 default.

To change the keppalive timer between ip phone and secondary CCM, is it station and backup to set to 40 or station keepalive to set to 20(backup uses 2 times this timer)?

I Can not find any clarification on this point.

To change the keepalive timer between phones and the secondary CCM, you would change the Station and Backup Server Keepalive Interval. By default, the backup timer is 2x the primary timer (Station Keepalive Interval), but it can be changed.

I have a Question, What will be the impact if i set the Station keep alive interval more than that of Station and Backup keep alive interval.

if your StationKeepaliveInterval = 60

then set Station and Backup Server Keep alive Interval = 30

it is a recommended practice to set the backup keepalive as twice that of the keepalive.

if your StationKeepaliveInterval = 30

then set Station and BackupServerKeepaliveInterval = 60

this provides the primary time enough to recover quickly if it can without having the phone Register to its backup only to have it reRegister to its primary because the primary came backup up before the phone completed registration to the backup.
