Is there a way to make an IP Phone ring over a loud speaker? The end user is complaining about not being able to hear the phone ring while production lines are running.

Thanks in advance.

There are several third party solutions. If your customer has an overhead page or speaker system, you can use products like the Bogen NR200 or the Valcom V-9924 ringer modules. You plug them into an FXS port like a VIC-2FXS or an ATA-186, and their output is a line-level audio "ringing" sound that it suitable for plugging into an overhead page amplifier.

Bogen NR200:

There exist solutions that will take a station/FXS line directly and ring one or more speakers as opposed to inputting into a paging system, but I'm not directly familiar with them. They are generally called "night bells". You might Google around for one if that's what you need.

When you figure out how to get something to ring overhead, you can set a line on an ATA186 or similar to be a shared line with the IP phone you want to ring overhead. Alternately, you could call-forward-no-answer into the extension for the night ringer, and instruct the employees in how to perform a pickup or group pickup off of the night bell.
