IP Phone VLAN Subnet Size

There is a new building with 8 floors to be set up with 150 IP Phone users per floor.

1.The usual practice and best pratice is to use a class C (/24) subnet for the IP Phone or Voice VLAN on each floor.

2.However, there are some suggestion to use a combined two floors into a /22 subnet.

I personally favour solution 1 instead of 2 as solution 1 should reduce the size of broadcast domain, gives better performance to the IP Phones, permits better control for QoS and traffic control. It also offer better control, segregation and isolation in a virus/worm scenario.

Are all of my above reasons valid points and if there is any document in CCO that I can use as reference for the basis of my argument? Thanks!

Re: IP Phone VLAN Subnet Size

In my opinion, its better to go for the second option since it will save some address space.
