Most of the times, it is not recommended to hard set the speed and duplex setting. Leave it as auto. This is one of the best thing you could do. Also, when you leave it as auto, it will be set to 100/full anyway. I have seen instances when you hard set the speed/duplex it will cause duplex mismatch at the switch and in some switches like CAT4000, it will not send power to the phone. There is a known bug CSCdv82735 filed for such issues.
