IP PIM dense-mode to sparse-mode migration

I currently operate IP PIM for multicasting in dense-mode on my 6500 L3 core switch for all VLANs; I need a command reference or instructions to convert to sparse-mode operation, in preparation for GRE tunelling across a VPN link.
