IP Soft Phone VIA VPN

When I make a call from home over VPN. It is only one

way communication, the caller can hear me but I can not hear the caller. I think it is a firewall issue

not allowing the called party voice packets to pass


Does anyone know the solution.

The Cisco IP SoftPhone 1.1 will only be able to expect inbound audio packets on the real IP address of the computer, not the VPN IP address that you have while connected to the VPN network. That is why you cannot hear the caller.

Version 1.2 is addressing this issue, that will be released in the future. Contact your account team if you need information on expected dates, etc.

Thanks for your reply, but it makes me wonder why

cisco even released a soft phone if you can not use it remotley. What is the point?

It can be used remotely. It just can't be used remotely under every possible remote connection type. It's that simple.

Again, this is being addressed in Cisco IP SoftPhone 1.2. Contact your account team to get expected release dates.

Do we get the same problem if I am doing a call from a Cisco IP PHONE 79X0 over VPN to our CallManager.
