IP/VC 3520 - IVR not auto-registering

Following the Release Notes for the 3520, I had the built-in IVR automatically register with the gatekeeper. This causes the following transactions on the 3520:

"New message sent -> Gatekeeper Confirm to endpoint"

followed immediately by:

"terminal-type discrepancy Rejecting transaction with reason 5"

There is nowhere to set a terminal type. Also, how can it not know how to register with itself? Perhaps I'm not following Cisco's exceptionally clear (ha) instructions. Help me please.

Re: IP/VC 3520 - IVR not auto-registering

Often times complex configuration issues are best addressed in an interactive session with one of our trained technical assistance engineers. While other forum users may be able to help, it’s often difficult to do so for this type of issue.

To utilize the resources at our Technical Assistance Center, please visit and to open a case with one of our TAC engineers, visit

If anyone else in the forum has some advice, please reply to this thread.

Thank you for posting.

Re: IP/VC 3520 - IVR not auto-registering

I would love to open a case but even though our entire company runs on Cisco products, because I didn't know to order the support package for this I am told I have no support for this one device. I guess I am now the proud owner of a $8500 doorstop.

Re: IP/VC 3520 - IVR not auto-registering

I've got a 3540, I don't know if you have the same options, but... under the IP/VC Adminstrator MCU comman Advanced tab/comands button you can register/unregister to the gatekeeper (pages 4/23 int the "IP/VC 3540 MCU Module Admin. Guide"). I don't know what parameter to set it to but This may get you started...
