IP7940 intermittent trouble transferring

I am having problems transferring from a 7940 phone. Sometimes the transfer goes through and other times it just sits on the phone and never dials. It does not seem to matter if the phone called is on DND or not. It also does not seem to be certain extensions...sometimes the transfer works to a specific extension and then sometimes it does not to the same extension. We are on CME.

does the problem occur when a call comes from pstn ?

If by pstn you are referring to an outside line coming in off of a regular t1 smart trunk then yes.

I had the same problem, and it was resolved by a configurationchange in the GW. Try selecting "Media Termination Point Required" in the gateway config and make sure an mtp is available to use.

There are no media termination points and no 'gateway' config per se in CME.

the gateway functionality is part of CME.

I have a similar problem on all inbound calls from the PSTN on CME 4.0 - if a call originates local the CME, no issues; if it comes through the PRI, we can't transfer it (or park it, since that uses a blind transfer mechanism to do the park on CME).

If i find out why, i'll post here.
