I am researching the IPICS solutions utilizing LMR to interface to two-way radios to my IP Network. I understand the cisco side of things especially the fact that this LMR IOS interfaces to the radio network by either T1 or E&M but I am not familiar with the radio side of things. Can someone give me an example of a radio vendor and their product that would interface to the LMR?
Basically, it would interface with pretty much any kind of radio. We have used LMR linking several different radio systems, and it actually works pretty well. The biggest thing is to make sure you have the right cable connecting your radio the E&M Port. http://www.networkedradio.com/ is a good place to get your cables.
Shane, We have Nextel Phones (using PTT) connected to our LMR gateway. There is a special cable which connects the headset port on the phone to an E&M VWIC port on the LMR gateway (Cisco 2800). In this scenario you need a phone/E&M combo for every channel you need to broadcast on.
