IVR 2.0 and VoIP codecs

Is it possible to write a custom TCL application for VoIP calls inbound to an AS5300 that egress to the PSTN and use a codec other than G.711?

If the application collected digits for authentication and the destination number using DTMF relay without playing voice prompts or tones over the VoIP leg, could the G.729 codec be used for the call?

Thank you,

Kluso

While there are no Cisco supported API's available at this time, there may be other developers on the forum who may be able to assist you.

It is possible to have a TCL application answer VOIP calls and collect digits. It can also play voice prompts to the inbound voip leg all using G.729. Wheather you use G.729 or G.711 it should work the same (obviously the call quality is slightly less with G.729)
