MCS-7835 and SCSI Drives

Can anyone explain why dual 18.2gb drives only give you 14.9GB useable space in Win2000?

I know they are mirrored, but it seems to me that we are losing quite a bit of disk, is there some other partition somewhere being used? I know Compaq has its own partition but Im sure its not gb's in size.

You may have noticed that when the server first boots, that it indicates "1 logical drive found". The MCS-7835 operating system installation is configured for RAID-1 drive "mirroring".

Rest assured, the first time a SCSI drive fails, you'll absolutely LOVE the drive redundancy and ease of which the system rebuilds a replacement drive.

But I understand that its mirrored and its writing to both disks.

But my question is why dont we have almost 18gb useable in Win200, we seem to have lost around 3gb somewhere, I just wondered where?

Ok... bit of a schoolboy error that one, Ive just noticed that the E: drive is 1.9gb in size :)

But that leads me onto another question, what is the E: drive used for? Its labelled STI, so Im assuming its related to the backup in someway?

Does cisco recommend against storing any data on the E: drive?
