No, Unity doesn't automatically remove messages from your store based on a schedule, age or the like. We have to be extra careful since this is a unified messaging system and doing things like reaching in and yanking messages out of someone's inbox is generally frowned upon. Such features are more normal when you have a seperate, proprietary message store that's all yours all the time.
However, there are Exchange tools you can setup to automatically remove/archive/report on messages that match any profile you want, including read state, age, message type etc...
