MGCP Call Preservation

I have a question about MGCP Call Preservation;

I know it should work like this (2 callmanager cluster..);

phone (registered on cm1)

mgcp-gw (registered on cm2)

phone sets up call to PSTN

if cm2 fails, mgcp-gw will switchover to cm1 with Quit Clear flag,

so call will be preserved and RTP stream will continue....(learned this in IPTT)

But, what if phone and mgcp-gw are registered on cm2 (there is only 1 device-pool(cm2-cm1))

and cm2 fails, phone and mgcp-gw will switchover to cm1, and RTP gets lost.....(tested..)

Call is not preserved.

Is it possible to keep the call preserved?

Do I need to create 2 device-pools (1st for Phones, 2nd for gateways)?

Is there a design-guide/considerations for this?

regards,

Sascha

Re: MGCP Call Preservation

Im am curious why not register the phones and the VG200 to the same callmanager? That is what I do with my VG200 and my phones. I register everything to the Subscriber. Then If I have a failover everything goes to the Publisher.. Call calls are kept…

I have one Device Pool for my phones and gateways

Re: MGCP Call Preservation

Hi,

That is just what I have (btw, it is a 2620 with E1 on MGCP..),

all registered on the sub, one device-pool.

But on a failover the rtp stream is gone after 3 sec!!
