MGCP Versions

The following options are available when setting up MGCP call-agent to register with Call Manager:

0.1 Version 0.1 of MGCP (Internet Draft)

1.0 Version 1.0 of MGCP (RFC2705 Version 1.0)

rfc3435-1.0 Version 1.0 of MGCP (RFC3435 Version 1.0)

Any guidelines on which one to use? Currently we use Version 0.1 on our gateways.

Thanks!

Re: MGCP Versions

So have I, but I am curious as to when or why to use the newer version.

Re: MGCP Versions

Steven,

As per this link 1.0 version is a protocol used for controlling VOIP calls using external CA's. This draft ensures interoperatibility between a wide variety of CA's. I think both 0.1 and v 1.0 are supported, but am not sure if the latest rfc is supported.

You can read about v 1.0 more here.

Re: MGCP Versions

But, somebody to configurate a gateway with mgcp 1.0?

When I config 2801 with mgcp 1.0 with CCM 4.1(3), the gw doesn't register. When I use the mgcp 0.1 I haven't problems.

Regards,
