Hi, I have a CCM with 3.3 version and a Cisco 3640 with FXO connected to PSTN configured with MGCP. When a communication is setted up between a IP PHONE 7960 and the PSTN, from the PSTN is hearing to low the audio, but from the IP PHONE is hearing good.
I would advise you NOT to use MGCP with FXO trunks.
The biggest problem is with calls being answered at the router that may never get answered by an extension but the caller still pays for the call. MGCP answers the call before signalling to the handset that the call is ringing, callers get played back a ringing tone from the router.
Switch to H.323 and then use the gain commands on the port to increase volume levels. You can then use the plar opx commands to make sure the router only answers calls when there is somebody on the end of a handset.
