mgcpapp and MGCPAPP

I remember somewhere in the CCO it states that use either mgcpapp or MGCPAPP depending on the routers platform, something like that. Is this still true?

Re: mgcpapp and MGCPAPP

Take a look at the link below which states:

"Note: The application MGCPAPP command is case-sensitive in some Cisco IOS software releases. Always issue this command in uppercase unless you know that your software release is not case-sensitive. Look at the output of the show running-config command in order to check whether your software release is case-sensitive. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(5)T is not case-sensitive."

Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

Re: mgcpapp and MGCPAPP

Also,

now that the application command is deprecated, you need to use the service command. Inside the dial-peer mode if use a "service ?" you will see the list of applications available. You will see that MGCPAPP is listed in all caps. In newer IOSes' (12.3,12.4) I have seen that it does not matter how you enter it (mgcpapp or MGCPAPP)..it shows up in running config in lower case "mgcpapp" and both works.
