Modem attached to FXS port cannot communicate.

I've a Cisco 2821 roter that i use has voice gateway. It has a card with 2 E1 Pri for outgoing and incoming calls to my company.

I need use modems for data calls to PSTN. For this reason I have connected a modem to a port of a VIC-FXS/DID card installed into the same router. Call starts, modem can connect to my ISP but it is not able to end negotiation phase and call is disconnected after 1/2 minute with error 678....

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Luca.

Re: Modem attached to FXS port cannot communicate.

Do you have modem pass-through/relay configured on the gateway? Have you checked the clocking on the E1?

Re: Modem attached to FXS port cannot communicate.

Thank you for your reply.

I have this configuration into my voice gateway:

voice service voip

fax protocol pass-through g711alaw

h323

h245 tunnel disable

h245 caps mode restricted

modem passthrough nse codec g711alaw

My voice gateway has a card with 2 E1, but i use always E1 0/0/1 for outgoing calls.

Please find below config. for E1 clocking:

network-clock-participate wic 0

network-clock-select 1 E1 0/0/1

network-clock-select 2 E1 0/0/0

Many thanks for your help!

Best regards.
