MoH from analog source

Hi,

We have an organisation that is provided MoH source over satelite and sent to an analog port on our legacy PBX. The legacy PBX then plays MoH through the analog port.

We want to migrate them on our IPT infrastructure and we're running CCM 4.1(3).

My question is : How do I get to play their MoH source, since the source is analog ? They can't change the source, because it's sent and changed regularly from the company's HQ in another city. Connecting the MoH server on the IP network is also out of the question for security reasons, because it's a financial organisation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: MoH from analog source

the MOH stream has to be in an IP form for callManager 4.1(3) to use it. it must be able to be configured as an MOH source as well.

you may be able to use an FXO (or better yet, a T1) on a router to connect to your PBX to have it send MOH to the router that can then send it to the IP network.

you may also be able to use a 'fixed audio source' such as a PC CD player. your HQ could send the CDs to you and you set them up as required when they change MOH.

see this link for more MOH config info:

Re: MoH from analog source

Hi,

You can source Music on Hold from an analog FXO or E&M port. This feature is only available with an IOS version which includes Callmanager Express

Re: MoH from analog source

We used this device;

http://www.ablecomm.com/haauadyoufeh.html

allows you to adjust levels of inbound audio.

We implemented similar solution to yours; MOH soundtrack from satellite rx, corporate soundtrack. E&M port on 2621 with NM-2V. Easy configure, connect and works well. Wiring easy with above adapter, phono from sat rx, to ablecomm; RJ11 from ablecomm to E & M.

Good luck !

Re: MoH from analog source

I need a sample config of how you configured an h323 gateway with E&M ports to provide and MOH live feed to a CallManager cluster. Thanks!

Re: MoH from analog source

Have you ever been able to do this with an FXO port? I don't have an E&M card and I'd like to use a FXO port, however I'm not sure how to provide power to the FXO card. I understand an adapter is needed, but I'm unable to find such a device.

Re: MoH from analog source

There are two quick answers to your problem:

1. Use the Cisco supported USB audio adapter:

Griffin Technologies iMic USB

or

Telex P-800 USB

See the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_implementation_design_guide_chapter09186a00806e8c28.html#wp1043623

2. Buy a cheap mc3810 with an analog e&m port for <= $100 US on eBay. Configure it using a multicast dial-peer (instructions in another post).

Both work well...

/Rick
