Is there a special procedure for moving mailboxes in MS Exchange for a user that has already been imported as a subscriber in Unity?

Yup. It's on CCO:

One thing that tech note doesn't mention, however, is the notifier will not automatically log back into your mailbox properly after the move. You'll be able to get your messages over the phone but the MWI/Notification devices may not work properly until you restart Unity.
You can use the BulkLogout tool on my web page to log a number of users out and also log them back in after you move them in Exchange.
