Moving mailboxes

I have a client that wants to move user mailboxes from one exchange server to another exchange server within the same site . The client does not want to delete the existing voicemail boxes and recreate . Does Unity support Exchange Administration Move Mailbox or Exchange Mailbox Migration tools .

Re: Moving mailboxes

Yes, you can move users between Exchange servers including moving them to and from the Exchange server that resides on our box.

You need to be sure the user in question is logged out of their mailbox before moving them or Exchange gets “confused” about which server holds that person’s mail. For instance if you have Outlook open and logged into a mailbox that you then go to the Exchange administrator and move, it will actually have two mail stores for that user until you reboot one or both Exchange servers. Not cool.

Unity logs into everyone’s mailbox so we can, among other things, trigger MWIs and message notification events based on activity in your mailbox. We do this using the same basic interface as Outlook. As such you need to have us log out of the mailboxes you need to move. The easiest way to do this is to shut down Unity, move all your mailboxes and start Unity back up. If that’s not practical, the support folks can help you out by individually logging a particular user out. In general, however, I recommend shutting down Unity and doing all your mailbox moves and then bring us back up if you can do that.
