Moving Unity accounts to Active Directory

We are currently running Unity 4.02 with Exchange 5.5 on a W2K box. We are currently using NT.40 Domains for authentication and will be migrating to Active Directory in the next couple of months.

What is the upgrade process I will need to follow to integrate the accounts into AD? I am assuming I will have to upgrade to Exchange 2000 for the account communication to work with AD. Is there a doc out there that details what all I will have to do for this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Moving Unity accounts to Active Directory

Upgrading your NT4 domain to AD will not impact Unity unless the partner Exchange server will also run AD. If so you will need to change to port within Exchange to something other than 389 such as 390 and update the Unity registry. Here is a URL that covers the Unity change:

Here is a Microsoft URL that covers changing the Exchange 5.5 LDAP port:;EN-US;224447

Once you get to AD you can migration to Exchange 2000/2003. Here is a URL to help you reconfigure Unity for use in an environment with Exchange 2000/2003:

Hope this helps...

Re: Moving Unity accounts to Active Directory

The documentation above mentions disconnecting Unity from the Exchange 5.5 server and reconnecting to the Exchange 2000 server. So far, I cannot find any documentation on how to accomplish this. Could you please point me in the right direction?

The doc you need is in the "Cisco Unity Reconfiguration and Upgrade Guide (With Microsoft Exchange)," available at
