I have multiple call managers spread around the country and would like to be able to update a single database and have each call manager use this database for the corporate directory, is there a way to do this?

Yes this is possible
All you need to do is change the directories URL on the Call manager to point to the directory you want, rather than the default local directory.

The scenario you suggest that there is one callmanager cluster that has all the users for all the clusters. That means someone would have to add all the users into the global directory of one callmanger.
