when we leave messages we are not getting MWI lamps to turn on. In Event viewer it is saying :
Failed to set message waiting lamp for (subscriber) ext (), switch 0, cluster 0, reason: SetMWI failed with 0x80004005.

Any idea?

Is this for all subscribers, or just a few subscribers? What is the integration type? CCM? If so, what is the AvSkinny.TSP version number? What's the exact Unity version? Did MWI ever work?

Getting the exact same error message in the event log, seems to be affecting all users. The MWI had worked until earlier today.
Unity 3.1(3)
CM 3.1(3a)
TSP 6.0 (1)

Hi Rob,
This problem may have many precursors. The easy stuff first : did you try to resync all users with the "Resync Now" button in Unity Sys. Admin (under "Ports")? Do you have enough memory (maybe your system has grown)? Do you have enough ports configured on your system (lack of ports may lead to MWI problems as well)?
You could also check under phone and modem options in Control Panel to see if the Unity TSP is set up properly. Verify that all the settings for MWI DNs still correspond with those on the Call Manager.
Cisco has a lot of resources for this. Check out the ones below :

I have resynch all users with no success. This is a new install with 180 users, 1GB RAM and 12 ports. All MWI worked and then they stopped without making a configuration change. 4 hours later everything started working again without any changes. Now the problem has popped up again. The server has not been rebooted since before the first time this happened.
Thanks

It sounds like your system is or was configured for Dual Switch integration, check the subscriber in questions profile page in the Unity SA to see if they are assigned to the correct telephone switch.
Also if you originally installed Unity in DEMO mode, then it is automatically configured for Dual Switch, if you later registered the software and upgraded the key, you may now have TAPI only, but all your subscribers are set to the wrong switch in the database. If this is the case you can use the Bulk Edit Utility to correct the problem.

I had this same problem and the BulK Edit Utility corrected it on existing users. However, when I add new users they still come up with the wrong switch assignment and the customer has to keep going in manually and changing it.
Is there a way, i.e., registry hack, to change the default switch assignment for adding new users?
Thanks in advance...

You should be able to change the switch assignment in the subscriber template you're using to add subscribers... have you tried this and it's not working?

I am running Unity 3.1.3. I looked at the subscriber template and I don't see a place to change it. Any suggestions?

If the system was dual-switch and no longer is, you won't be able to change the switch assignment for the template on the SA. You can still make the change, you'll have to use DohPropTest instead.
Open DPT, Load the "mailusertemplates" collection, select the template(s) in question, and change the AVP_SWITCH_ID property.

I think we should ask alivers if this is a new installation, or if it was working and suddenly stoped working.
