Need recommended procedure for adding languages to an existing installation

Hello,

I am looking for the recommended procedure to add languages to an existing Unity 3.1(5) installation. Please note that the server in question uses failover, so we need a procedure which takes that into account. Our license keys support the desired number of languages.

A couple of sub questions:

1. What are the steps to add additional languages to an existing failover enabled, production server?

2. Should we add languages to the primary or failover server first?

3. Is there a recommended maximum number of languages we should not exceed on our production servers (we use Dell 4400s, Dual proc PIII 1000, 2GB)?

The only way we have found to add languages is to re-run the Unity installation (parts I and II). We are hoping for a better alternative.

Many thanks in advance!

Re: Need recommended procedure for adding languages to an existi

1. You need to obtain a license upgrade file for the additional languages for both the license keys (primary and secondary servers).

2. Add languages to the primary server first and then to the secondary server

3. You can have the desired number of languages. You may see a delay in Unity starting up if more than 7 languages are loaded and if you run into the delay, it can be addressed by an ES. Contact TAC for more details on how to install the ES.

You can add additional languages by running Unity setup part 1. There is no need to run setup part 2.

Thank you for the response! It was exactly what I was looking for. One followup question, what is an "ES"? Thanks!

"Engineering Special" - it's a patch that's available through TAC.
