Network Clock Problems for PRIs in a 3745

I have a 3745 IOS version Version 12.3(6) with two NM-HDV-2E1 modules, I have the two E1 in slot 3 connected to a Carrier for access to PSTN and the two E1 in slot 2 to a PABX (without public conections) with QSIG PRI.

I assume I must get clock from the PSTN and provide clock to the PABX ( I have in other location the same configuration in a 3640 with other PABX identical and works fine)

For this I have the next config in the 3745:

no network-clock-participate slot 2

network-clock-participate slot 3

network-clock-select 1 E1 3/0

network-clock-select 2 E1 3/1

voice-card 2

dspfarm

!

voice-card 3

dspfarm

controller E1 2/0

clock source internal

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

controller E1 2/1

clock source internal

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

controller E1 3/0

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

controller E1 3/1

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

Then I can see:

HO_VOIP#sh network-clocks

Network Clock Configuration

---------------------------

Priority Clock Source Clock State Clock Type

1 E1 3/0 GOOD E1

2 E1 3/1 GOOD E1

10 Backplane GOOD PLL

Current Primary Clock Source

---------------------------

Priority Clock Source Clock State Clock Type

1 E1 3/0 GOOD E1

The problem is that I have one slip second usually each 120 secs in the E1s with the PABX:

E1 2/0 is up.

Applique type is Channelized E1 - balanced

Description: Matra0

No alarms detected.

alarm-trigger is not set

Version info Firmware: 20031216, FPGA: 11

Framing is CRC4, Line Code is HDB3, Clock Source is Internal.

CRC Threshold is 320. Reported from firmware is 0.

Data in current interval (141 seconds elapsed):

0 Line Code Violations, 0 Path Code Violations

1 Slip Secs, 0 Fr Loss Secs, 0 Line Err Secs, 0 Degraded Mins

1 Errored Secs, 0 Bursty Err Secs, 0 Severely Err Secs, 0 Unavail Secs

Obviously I checked the E1s with the PSTN and they are completly clean (no errors)

I have no clear if I must have

network-clock-participate slot 2

or

no network-clock-participate slot 2

With the command "network-clock-participate slot 2" I have also slips and they are more frecuent, one each 10 or 15 secs.

Any Ideas?

Could somebody explain to me if when we provide the clock must we have the relevant module with the "network-clock-participate" ?

My real problem is that I have problems with the fax machines connected to the PABX, and I'm sure thet they are produced because of this slips

Regards.

Re: Network Clock Problems for PRIs in a 3745

I have tried a new approach but this gives me slips in all E1s

without network participate commands:

no network-clock-participate slot 2

no network-clock-participate slot 3

!

controller E1 2/0

clock source internal

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

controller E1 2/1

clock source internal

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

controller E1 3/0

clock source line primary

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

controller E1 3/1

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

The two Public E1s in slot 3 are from the same carrier.

Regards.
