New Message Indicator

On Windows 2K and Outlook 2K
When a new voice mail arrives a "new message envelope" appears on the task bar. After you check the message-it does not go away. This only happens on emails from the Unity server. Also in Outlook the little envelope next to the email does not open.

Both these are known issues... just low priority on the queue. The "new message" icon in the tray doesn't get updated for some reason because the message was opened with a custom form. For whatever reason this doesn't trigger the "Read" flag in Outlook and it wont update that mail icon. This has been around for a while (you'll see other apps out there with the same basic problem). There's probably a tricky way around this issue but the client team hasn't come across it apparently.

The voice mail icon in the inbox itself only has one icon... there isn't a special icon for a read vs. unread voice mail. We rely on the bold/normal text in the inbox message list to indicate it's read/unread state.

Any update or resolution to this issue? We also have clients with same issue and want to know if there is any fix.

Thanks!

Do you have ViewMail for Outlook installed? If so, what version?

I found a way to make them disappear - click on "more" on the left hand side and then on "IT Support Chat"
The new messages indicator goes away. You don't actually need to chat, just close the chat window.
