The two commands perform the same function but express it in a different fashion. Digit-strip is on by default and you can turn it off with the "no digit-strip" command on the dial-peer. The other option is to explicitly define the number digits (beginning with the last number dialed) to forward or use the "all" expression to forward the full length of the destination pattern.
No digit-strip is equivalent to foward-digit all. Both commands will forward the full length of the matched destination pattern. The digit-strip command is either on (default) or off. The forward-digit command is user definable, 0 to 32 or all.
