I recently installed a 2600 with a nma-hdv-fxo with 8 fxo and 4fxs ports set up.
The problem is that users are experiencing background noise on their own handset when they are speaking. This is not heard on the other end. Have disabled vad, and checked the codecs are set at 711.
Anyone have any clue

Are you hearing any echo as well? There have been some echo/noise issues with the HDA card. I would suggest to try the 12.2.15ZJ it seems to work better with the HDA in my experience.

had a problem like this with a VIC-2FXO.
we changed the cabling using CAT 5 and we made sure that
we only used 2 wires connecting the VIC port to the PSTN.

Oddly enough, I had a similar problem and it was caused by leaky RF emissions from a non-Cisco switch located on top of the router. I was getting a loud recurring echo and hum, and I placed a ton of internal and external calls and isolated to either an ATA-186 or a cheap lab switch that was located near my router.
