how much noise on a call is acceptable. A client is complaining that there is a very pitch noise going in and out during a conversation. Is the Cisco router causing the nosies or telco probem. Please advise on this probem. We running two 1751 with a FXO and FXS on each router.
How much background noise is acceptable is very subjective. Ironically, no noise turned out to be disconcerting to users leading to the introduction of comfort noise (and now we face the challenge of artificially re-producing noise that users actually find comforting).
The first thing that I would do is check that comfort noise and VAD are disabled on the voice ports.
Electrical interface can cause noise, especially on analog lines. Try placing the call from a POTS phone and check whether or not the noise is present. Wiring problems can also introduce problems.
