NT Software Disk Mirroring

What's the official position on WindowsNT software fault tolerance? Customer has a "kit" installation and has mirrored the drives. The Outlook reboot performed a "dirty" restart and the remirror process seems to be a CPU hog!

I think I know the answer to this question but wanted to hear it from AV.

Thanks

Re: NT Software Disk Mirroring

Well... technically it's the customer's system and they can do whatever they want with it. However if they call and complain about the performance or have other problems with the system, we can't help them.

Software mirroing is not a supported configuration and your observation is exactly why. Hardware based RAID and mirroring is the only way to do this right... go pop the $250 for a decent SCSI controller that can handle the mirroring and you'll sleep a lot better at night.
