Ok, dumb 3.03 install Question...

I have installed 3.0.3 and am running Unity Configuration. Normally not a big deal, except that when prompted for Administrator Account password, all I get is: "The Password entered is invalid. Check the user name and password and try again."
I have two accounts on this box that have the same rights, the Administrator account and an account named Unity. It doesn't matter which account I use to run config, both give the same error. This is Unity 3.0.3, on E2k on box, SQL2k. Both Exchange SP1 and SQL SP1 are on the box.

I have gone so far as to type the Pword into notepad to make sure I am not fat fingering anywhere and cut and paste into Win2k login as well as Admin. Account password field.

I see nothing in the event logs to tell me what the deal is.

?

--Cael

it's a bogus error message that comes up when a right has not been assigned (the error message throws you off the trail, but it is a problem that needs to be addressed). This is usually due to not assinging log on as a service and act as part of the operating system rights properly on the groups necessary for the account you're installing with. This thread may help:

Thanks, that was it exactly...

I am thinking of getting RTFM tattoo'ed somewhere on my body so I remember it.

lots of folks have been stumbling on the permissions stuff here. The Applications Team is working on a permissions granting wizard that will greatly reduce the problems here and solve lots of problems in and around granting rights to accounts and continers. Be watching AnswerMonkey for for the first drop of that one in the next few weeks.
