Hi everyone,
Im stuck with this Problem. Having CCM 4.0+ Two Cisco Voice Gateway 2811 (WIC E1 (2 port,PVDM2-16,PVDM2-48). IOS Version 12.3(8)T7. Some User are experiencing One Way Voice (It s always the customer(from PSTN) who cannot hear the User), this happen sporadically(so the same users can have normal calls). Already updated the firmware of the IP-Phones, Problem still existing. The two gateway are in 2 Route Groups:
GW1 Route_Groupe_1
GW2 Route_Groupe_2
A Route List contain the two Route Groupes with high priority to GW1.
The GW1 is handling all in and out wheras GW2 is handling just In Calls.
Checked the E1 Controller:
E1 0/0/0 is up.
Applique type is Channelized E1 -
balanced
No alarms detected.
alarm-trigger is not set

Seems to be running normal.
added the following command..didnt help:
voice rtp send-recv
h323-gateway voip bind srcaddr (GW1-IP)
Any Ideas?
Thank you

Do you have flex enabled? Make sure you have enough DSP resources.

What do you mean with Flex enabled?
How can i check if there are enough DSP resources on 2811GW`??

Hi,
I've got the same situation with my CCM 4.1 and Cisco2811. In my case, Ive MGCP between the CCM an GW.
There is no Slips on E1, MGCP GW was bounded to CCM with appropriate mgcp bind command.
In my case, Ive got one-way audio at the middle of conversation!
More over, patient user claims that after 20 seconds of one-way audio he got a good chance to have two-way conversation again!
PS: QoS is configured.

Hi,
Thank you both for Answers. The problem still exist. The User that experience the One-Way-Voice Problem, start always a normal Converstation but after (a maximum of 3min) it turns on One-Way-Voice Conversation. so the Cutomer from the PSTN cant hear the User. Yesterday i had the Chance to ping the Gateway from a User PCs who during the ping had a one-way-voice. Result is that the Gateway didnt answer the ping fast (After One request time out he did answer). However I checked the E1 Connection (all Channels are working fine). h323-gateway voip bind srcaddr (IP-GW1) didnt help.
@Danny: the command you told me to check if i have flex complexity dont exist: sh voice dsp group all.
i issued sh voice dsp detailed it showed the chanel that are busy/idle.
the Modules i have (PVDM2-16 and PVDM2-48) can support 16 and 48 Channel this is more than enough for us.
The Fastethernet interface of the Gateway that is connected to the Catalyst shows also no errors or packets drop.
@pavel: i use H323 gateway but i think i have the same problem as u had (middle of conversation->one-way-voice)
Any ideas?

Hi,
I've found the following bug CSCsb65867 which is look like our situation.
Its about NM-HDV2, but the PVDM module revision is the same!
May be weve got some sing similar?
BTW, what kind of LAN switch are you using in your LAN environment?

Hi Pavel,
Ill take a look at the Bug...
We re using two Catalyst 4000 with Supervisor II+TS.

Hi Pavel,
The Bug you mentioned is for MGCP not H323.
01-02-2006 01:04 AM
Hi Jayd,
I am working with Pavel on this problem. We think, that gateway protocol makes no sense. Our gateway works with MGCP, your gateway works with H.323, but we have same problem.
In my opinion, the problem hides somewhere in PVDM2 modules. Which version of DSPWare you have? Have you tried to remove one of PVDM's?
In bug description was stated, that problem was fixed in IOS 12.4.5, but VOICE version of this IOS is deferred.

We ´re running Version 12.3(8)T7, PVDMII DSP SIMM with one DSP and PVDMII DSP SIMM with three DSPs.
I m just asking myself why the Gateway didnt answer the ping fast when during this ping the Agent was experiencing One-Way-Voice. Other Agent at the same Time had no problem with the same Gateway.

Perhaps, you have met some CoS issues, when the user's PC traffic affects outgoing RTP stream. Or, vice versa, dropped echo requests/replies are consequence of working CoS, which reduces bandwidth for other traffic types, allowing RTP stream to occupe maximum bandwidth.
Have you tried to reproduce one-way-audio situation, when user's PC is generating a lot of traffic (using ftp upload of a huge file, for example) and placing a call in the same time? I have tried, but with no success -- the voice quality was pretty good.

Hi ,
We had the same problem for one customer.Do you have transcoder and conference programmed on the router?
If yes how many session?.
Thanks,
Radhika

Hi, Radhika
We had assigned all dsp resources to only terminate voice sessions. We have'nt configured any DSP farms. Here is part of our config:

voice-card 0
codec complexity medium
no dspfarm
!PVDM2's on NM2-HDA

Hi,
We had the same issue and in our case also we had transcoding sessions running. This turned out to be a bug with one of the 12.3 code and Cisco suggested us to change the transcoding sessions to multiples of 8.So it is 8 or 16.Try to change the transcoding sessions to 8 and see if it helps.
