Folks,
In MQC is i want to give 100kbs and 150kbs to 2 classes and leave 500 for best effort delivery , do i need to create a class-default ? Cisco DOC says that if i do not create class-default, traffic that does not match class GOLD and SILVER will be given best effort treatment. Am i right?
Policy-map policy
class GOLD
bandwidth 100
class SILVER
bandwidth 150
class best-effort
bandwidth 500
Thanks

The class-default is there by default. And yes, it is best effort.

this Doc says that only if class-default is not configured will the remaining traffic be "best-effort" delivered. Class-default is there by default , but, still you have to configure is.
Thanks

Well, you need to define the class-default only if you need to set any parameters to the rest of the traffic. Even if you configure class-default, you can assign best effort queueing, using the fair-queue command.
