Power Requirements for IP Telephones

We are about to deploy 4507 access switches with in-line power to use about 180 IP Phones each. We intend to use 20 AMPS plugs. Our electrician has commented that if we intend to use UPS on the switches, 20 amps will not suffice. Any ideas pls

Re: Power Requirements for IP Telephones

It depends on the model of the PSU that the Cat4K is using. Have a look here for more details on power for the Cat4K switches-

If you are planning on having all phones connected to one switch, you would need a 2800 watt PSU , which is also 220VAC input, so 2800 watts/220volts = aprox 13 amps

Otherwise if you have multiple switches and use the 1300 watt PSU then these are rated as 110VAC at 20 amps.

The power budget of the switch will prevent excessive juice being drawn if too many devices are connected.

Either way a 20 amp connector looks OK.
