Problem with Comfort Noise and Echo Cisco 1760

Have 2 FXO cards inserted with Cisco 1760. The problem is on the IP Phone side when no one is talking there is dead space. That is with vad turned off and Noise Regeneration enabled or disabled. Also when the client is talking on the IP Phone side there is no echo back while he is talking. Only time there is echo back is when the PSTN side is talking. Soon as the PSTN side stops talking there is dead space until PSTN side starts talking again. Any suggestions Thanks

I bet this is only on inbound calls...If so, you are matching the default dial-peer (dial=peer 0):

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/788/voip/in_dial_peer_match.html

Which does not have vad disabled.

You can either add another dial-pper with incoming called-number . and disable vad there or you could use the voice vad-time command to control how long vad waits after detecting silence before it goes active.

Thanks for the info creiman. VAD was enabled on the dial-peer. Once we disabled it the system worked fine
