Problems with migration from ccm 4.1.3 to 5.0

i have a problem to migrate the database from my 4.1.3 publisher to a databaseformat which i can import in my ccm 5.0.

i used the Data Migration Assistant 5.0(1) (DMA) from the cisco hp for migration. when i run the dma everything look good, but at the end, the screen tolds me: backup successful, verification failed.

the log told me:

- Failure, Windows-based W1 Migration Verification

- Failed to verify Cisco Callmanager database and directory backed up data

- The database and/or directory cannot be migrated as they are.

- Correct the database and/or directory information and run DMA again.

- Verification of DB in IDS failed. Retaining the TAR file as it is.

have anyone an idea what i can do next?

thx

Re: Problems with migration from ccm 4.1.3 to 5.0

Solution :

start>MS Sql Server>Enterprise Manager>expand MS SQL Servers>SQL Server

Group>Local Computer (or Callmanger)>Databases>CCM0XXX>Tables.

Then right click on LineGroup>Open Tables>return all rows. The 2nd field should be rnareversiontimeout. The problem is that this is set to 180 and it should be between 0 and 120. Please set this to 120. You will need to click the ! (exclamation point) to "run" which is saving this value.

the value in the 2nd field (rnaReversionTimeout) is 10. i´ll test it with the value 120.

How long has it taken you guys to do the migration, I did a fresh install for testing and it was quick but now trying to migrate the information from 4 to 5, the DMA has been running for 12 hours, and I only have 350 devices. How quick was your stuff

So I am still having problems with the migration. It seems that when the DMA is validating everything it trys to stop and start the Informix IDS -CCM services but it cannot stop it. I have tryed both versions of the DMA tool, and have had the same exact problem. This should be a quick migration seeing how my database size is very small. Any ideas anyone???

I have test with the rnaReversionTimeout value=120, but then the DMA never ends his work.i must stop after 10 hours, because the server had to go online.

sadly i have no idea.

Re: Problems with migration from ccm 4.1.3 to 5.0

So I found the problem with the help of the Developers at TAC, here is the bug and fixes.

CSCsd83949: DMA hung trying to stop or start IDS database during DMA backup

Please check the following:

C:\CiscoWebs\DMA\bin\exportdb.log file if you see the last entries are:

GetExitCode returned TRUE (success)

return value = 0

Trying to stop database

IDS stopped

Trying to start database

The defect does not yet have a resolution.

Workaround:

None to stop Informix IDS - ccm service but if DMA stuck trying to start DMA, admin can manually start the service to let DMA proceed.

To see if DMA hangs trying to stop/start IDS, look in

c:\ciscowebs\dma\bin\exportdb.log:

if it is hung "Trying to stop IDS"

open a command window from programs->Informix->ccm

execute: onmode -yuk

It if is hung "Trying to start IDS"

open the services window; look for Infomix ccm service, and restart

Re: Problems with migration from ccm 4.1.3 to 5.0

i have another errormessage in the exportdb.log file and so the solution doesnt work. But it was a good idea. i have never looked before in the exportdb.log file. i hope the next lines can help to find a solution.

exportdb.log: (last entrys)

GetExitCode returned TRUE (success)

return value = 0

Trying to stop database

IDS stopped

Trying to start database

IDS started

ExportDatabase, returning [Failure, Windows-based W1 Migration Verification]

the status.html window(from DMA) shows the following:

09:42:55 AM] Archive built successfully.

[09:42:55 AM] Verifying integrity of backed up Cisco CallManager database and directory data.

[09:42:55 AM] This can take a long time, depending on the size of the databases and directories. Be patient.

[10:32:11 AM] Failure, Windows-based W1 Migration Verification

[10:32:11 AM] Failed to verify Cisco CallManager database and directory backed up data.

[10:32:11 AM] The database and/or directory cannot be migrated as they are.

[10:32:11 AM] Correct the database and/or directory information and run DMA again.

[10:32:11 AM] Verifcation of DB in IDS failed. Retaining the TAR file as it is.

the windows-server event log shows no error.
