Procedure to remove G729a Voice Prompts?

I recently installed the 729a quiet prompts. This works well for g729 streams but the prompts are too quiet for g711. Is there a procedure to back them out?

The easiest way to do this would be to use XCOPY to copy the original 711 prompts off the CD #1 disk (under \Localize\Prompts\ENU) onto the hard drive where you unpacked the G729a quiet prompts. Run the PromptInstaller there and it'll pack them all into the Unity directories for you.

Thanks Jeff, that worked. By the way, you wanted me to let you know how the Quiet Prompts worked; they worked fine in an all g729 environment. They were clearly quieter. The voice quality wasn't all that much better than the originals though.

so they were quieter in a 729a environment (i.e. bringing it down closer to the defautl recording level for the IP equipment) but the sound of the prompts themselves wasn't any better?

you say they were too quiet for 711 users... are these local IP phones that were setup for 711 and it was too quiet or were these external callers? That's interesting since matching the record volume level should be what you want... if the prompts are too quiet I would think the recorded messages would be too quiet as well (unless your boosting the record/playback levels in the registry which should not be necessary with the quiet set on).

Is it possible you left the playback/record adjustments in the registry and this is why folks were having a hard time hearing them with the quiet set on?

Sorry I didn't get back to you on this. I've been really busy.

You asked "Is it possible you left the playback/record adjustments in the registry and this is why folks were having a hard time hearing them with the quiet set on?"

I didn't change anything in the registry except what it said to do to allow g729.

Yeah, you'll want to change the registry settings such that the adjustment on playback and record are closer to 0 (i.e. the WAV driver isn't adjusting playback down and reocrd up or whatever). If you didn't do that and you set the quiet prompts on, the playback of the prompts would be too quiet.

Here's a great link to a tech tip (which should be available externally... tell me if you can't get to it) about the audio adjustment issues.

I wasn't able to load the page you listed. Can you email me with it or ???

apparently all the commitees that need to approve such things have not granted permission for this link to be visible outside. I'm told that it'll be available soon... it's a bunch of links, I'm not sure I can bundle it up into an email attachment. I'll hunt around and see if I can drop it onto AnswerMonkey without getting in too much trouble.
