push2phone application problem

Hello everyone,

I'm testing a simple push application that is included in the book:

<FORM action="" Method="POST">

<TEXTAREA NAME="XML" Rows="5" Cols="60">

<ExecuteItem URL="http://sydpc1439/ciscoipphoneservices/misccode/calendar/cal.asp">

<input type="submit" value="POST">

Before, I'm getting authentication errors and I managed to sort this out and was able to run the push application successfully.

But now, I'm having problems again. When I click on the post button, the apps did not ask for a username and password and after a while will display "Cannot find server or DNS error". I did not change anything except for the phone's IP Address because that is a DHCP Address. But I made sure that the IP address that I'm using in currently what in the phone's network configuration. And the phone is included in the controlled device list of my profile.

Please help.

Re: push2phone application problem

Hi Maria,

First, don't forget to close your ExecuteItem with a /> rather than a > so that it is well-formed XML.

What DNS servers are your phones configured to use, and can they resolve sydpc1439 to an IP address? Try using an IP address instead of the sydpc1439 hostname and see if that helps.

You could also create a test service with an URL of http://sydpc1439/ciscoipphoneservices/testme.asp or something similar and put a basic CiscoIPPhoneText into testme.asp to test the basics, which will tell you whether or not it has anything to do with pushing to the phone. If the phone can resolve and display your test application on the same web server, then it is probably not a DNS issue.

Re: push2phone application problem

Hi aaron,

Thank for replying.

The ExecuteItem has a closing tag. For some reason, it is deleted when I paste it here.

Yes, the DNS server can resolve sydpc1439. I have played with that before both using ip addresses and names. I can successfully run the application.

Do you know of other issues why the application is not prompting for a username and password? I played with IIS to accept different combinations of anonymous access and integrated windows but still no joy.

I'm really confused what caused this problem because I didn't change anything on the application side and the call manager side.

Thanks a lot for your help.
