QOS on incoming PSTN calls

hey,

havin a little issue with QOS fora while now. im just posting an output to see if anyone might have any suggestions...

one question though: im seeing that the QOS chosen is best-effort. is that the default output although we have configred fair-queue?, also, ive disabled VAD but still seeing it coming up as enabled

The field "SelectedQoS=best-effort" is a reference for RSVP. This means it not selected in this dial-peer. This is not an issue if you aren't using RSVP. Set your QoS value in the dial-peer according to the protocol. H323 is at the dial-peer level.

To validate, use SPAN, RSPAN or VACL capture with Ethereal or something to check before your next hop. Or anywhere else on the network. Additionally on older IP phones you can sniff off of the pc port without any configuration with a host with a packet sniffer. 7970s (and probably the newer phones) enable span to pc port to sniff and you can see the traffic at your endpoint.

As far as VAD, you are probably using the default dial-peer. Set an explicit inbound dial-peer and disable VAD. Here is the document explaining dial-peers.
