Question on 2821 and VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1

Do I need an AIM card? I was told that I didn't with the 2821.

I'm trying to configure the PRI for incoming and outgoing calls. Do I have the right config?

controller T1 0/2/0

framing esf

clock source line independent

linecode b8zs

channel-group 0 timeslots 24

You should probably change your clock source to the provider or source

Depending on your Carrier, you may need to configure a D channel. Normally, it's 23 channels and 1 d channel... but it's up to the carrier and client.

But you can check this doc to see if this helps It's for a 3600, but still should work.

Re: Question on 2821 and VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1

For PRI you do not use channel-group use (assuming T1 not E1 in this example ):

pri-group timeslots 1-24 service mgcp

if used with CCM MGCP, if using CME or CCM H.323 use

pri-group timeslots 1-24

Also, on the D-channel make usre you set the ISDN switch-type i.e. 5ESS, NI, DMS-100, etc, you'll need to know that from your provider:

interface Serial0/2/0:23

no ip address

isdn switch-type primary-ni

isdn incoming-voice voice

isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager (if using MGCP)

no cdp enable

Do you need an AIM module to handle PRI calling?

Re: Question on 2821 and VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1

You do not need an AIM card, but you do need DSPs resources for voice. The new 2800s support onboard DSPs.

The following will enable any installed DSPs for use.

voice-card 0

dspfarm

dsp services dspfarm

The configuration your showing is for a T1 not a T1 PRI. A T1/PRI uses pri-group instead of channel-group. The config is as follows

'select the correct switch type

isdn switch-type primary-4ess

controller T1 0/0/0

framing esf

linecode b8zs

pri-group timeslots 1-24

interface Serial0/0/0:23

no ip address

isdn switch-type primary-4ess

isdn incoming-voice voice

no cdp enable

If you are using MGCP you will need to add service MGCP to the pri-group command and add the backhaul command to serial int.
