User receives "You have a voice mail" on display screen along with MWI lit. After user listens to voice mail, the MWI goes out but the verbiage "You have a voice mail" still remains on the screen. How is this verbiage activated and why does it not reflect the current status of vme's.

That sounds a bit odd. What type of switch integration is being used?

It is a Unity 2.4.6.102 and Call Manager 3.0.7. There are about 400 users on the server.

When Unity wants to enable MWI on the IP phone, it does it in a similar fashion as an IP phone would dial the MWI on DN. Messages like the "You have a voice mail message" display is written and deleted by the CallManager server. The appearance of that message is triggered by the dialing of the MWI on DN for that particular phone. The Unity server never requests the CallManager to write to the display of the IP phone. It just simply requests turn extension XYZ's MWI on or off.
In a manual test, if an IP phone dials the MWI on DN, the display of the phone should have the "You have a voice mail message" display. If the phone dials the MWI off DN, that message should go away. So, if an IP phone turns its own MWI on and off, does the display "You have a voice mail message" still show up?

I have manually tested the MWI "On" DN and MWI "Off" DN. It turns the MWI on and registers the "flashing" envelope in the corner but does not have an effect on the "You have a voice mail" verbiage. The verbiage remains on the screen.

This was a known caveat in 3.06 and 3.07. It was resolved in 3.08.
For more information, you can read the Call Manager release notes for these versions.

Tested turning the MWI "On" DN and MWI "Off" DN. The MWI & "flashing" envelope went on & off. The "You have a voice mail" did NOT do anything. It still remains on the screen.
