RE:How to recover 3640 from Booting up

Hi All.

I have problem booting up my 3640 router, i keep getting funny characters during booting. Below is some character that show during booting, may i know how can i recover my route to normal boot from IOS???? Cos now i can't even get into Rmom mode. Thanks

What's probably happened is that your baud rate for the console port is mismatched to the baud rate on the terminal emulation program you're using.

You can do a few things:

1) Try changing the baud rate of your terminal emulation program to different values

2) If you have telnet access set up, wait until the router boots and then telnet in and change the config register to something like 0x2102, or

3) follow the procedure documented here: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/701/59.html#console

First time on these forums and first time reply. I had not seen someone else answered.

Would you be using hyperterm? If so, verify the connection speed matches that of the router. I would check that first as the configuration register of the router allows one to set the console baud rate between 2400 and 115200.
