Unity 2.4.6 Build 126, TSP 22.214.171.124, CM 3.0(10).

Our current install is for a college. At times, they need to change their opening greeting (or initial greeting) to, for instance, an inclement weather greeting. They would like to do this remotely, by phone preferably. Does Unity support this yet?

Matt Slaga
Dimension Data US
MCNE, MCSE2k, CCNP/DP Unity Systems Engineer
No, not yet... and it wont be in 3.0 either. It's on the plate for 3.1 or 3.2 I think (at least on the last set of features being proposed).
The only way to work around this in the meantime is to use a subscriber for the opening greeting instead of a call handler and log in as that user to change the greeting. Kinda goofy but it works and I know a number of sites have used this.
Assuming you couldn't use TRAP (i.e. fire wall issues, proxy servers etc...) and you didn't want to use the subscriber stunt (which is the easiest) then I'd probably record the greetings in question as WAV files on the local server and simply use the media master to past them into the opening greeting. You can do this remotely even if you can't use TRAP using the "paste from file" option (similarly you can dump greetings out to a WAV file). Seems to me this would be easier than creating different call handlers for each...
Create the dummy subscriber and set it's greeting as the opening greeting as you have said before. The standard and closed greetings play regular pre-recorded messages, but set the alternate greeting to be the "snow day" recording. This greeting could be enabled from a PSTN caller and recorded according to what they need stated. After the snow day, the standard greeting could then be enabled locally or remotely.

The short answer is that you don't.... That isn't entirely true while at
the same time it kind of is, but for the most part you don't configure
the softkeys. You enable or disable them via TCL. Here is the long
answer. Be sure to read the whole thing or e...
