I am currently running a pilot project to compare AVVID/Unity with standard Centrex service.
With Centrex the central receptionist will take messages for users that do not have voice mail.
The receptionist can remotely activate the MWI of that user to indicate that he has a message
waiting at the front desk.
Can this be done with Unity?? If not could a service be created in the call manager to do this ??

Runnning CM 3.1.2c & Unity VM3.0.3

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Eric Morgan
Bell Canada
CCIE #3988

No mechanism in Unity to just flip a message light on or off.
so presumably these guys don't have mailboxes, right? If they don't have mailboxes, their MWI means what? To call the operator and pick up their messages?

You're absolutely right. Half the users do not have voice mail and have a "forward no answer" to the
central receptionist. When they come back to their desk and see their MWI on, they call back the operator to
get their messages. They are more "phone users" than "computer users" and just find it more visual than using e-mail.
It's not a big deal, we're just ironing out all the last minor issues before going live with AVVID/Unity.
Would it be possible for a wiz kid to develop a CM service to perform that function??
If so, any idea were I could find the necessary info to program the service?
Thanks. Of course just saying it cannot be done is also an acceptable answer.
(By the way: excellent forum!!)
