Messages button is not a softkey its a hard button. Not sure what exactly you are trying to do ?

I should have said that, I mean the softkey on the 7912 phone.

You can customize softkeys on phones using ephone-template command. But i dont think it gives an option to remove the messages softkey.

messages is a hardkey. Take a look here.

****EDIT****

Scroll down into the middle

There is no option for messages softkey in the softkey command.

So how do you remove that ? manipulating XML files ?

Soft keys are the pretty pictures on the display. Hardkeys are the keys built into the phone. Messages is a hardkey.

Have you ever seen a 7912G ?

Messages is definitely a softkey.

Ross,

The phone in question is a 7912. 7902/7905/7912 have messages button as a soft key.
