Right Fax and Unity

I belive Rightfax is supported as a third party fax with Unity.
1-what licensing should we have on Unity.(Is it 255 to say that there is a fax server somewhere)
2-Do we need to put the FAX ID in the SA for subscribers.
3-When rightfax uses its gateway to comunicate with Exchange and mailboxes how does Unity know to turn MWI light when a fax arrives.
3-Does TTS work with Rightfax over the phone.
4-Is there any connection between Rightfax server and Unity besides both looking at the mailboxes to notify each other of changes in mailboxes.

Sean Poure
NEC-Voice Engineering
Sr. Systems Engineer
714 4846275
Re: Right Fax and Unity

Yes… we have tested RighFax in house and it worked fine. We have included their fax message classes in the registry as part of the standard install. Be aware, as new versions of RightFax come out it may be necessary to edit those registry settings if they change/add different classes.

All you need for 3rd party fax is to have Fax Users on the key. You do not ever need to worry about fax ports (it should be 0 for 3rd party fax integration). Fax ports only applies to the ActiveFax product which was based on Lightning.

When you call in to check messages, we filter your inbox for messages that match the “fax” message class defined in our registry tree. These are presented as faxes to you over the phone.

I’m not sure what you mean by TTS working with RightFax. Text to Speech and fax do not work together (i.e. we cannot do OCR on a fax and play it out to you via TTS if that’s what you’re asking).

There is no direct connection between Unity and any 3rd party fax server… that’s the beauty of the integration. We are working through Exchange looking at the inbox and having Exchange communicate with their gateway for sending out faxes/emails and the like. It lets us support a lot more 3rd party fax servers out there.
