Ringing a group of 7940s

A department in our location wants to be setup so that if a caller calls ( user 1 ), the user doesnt answer, then on the 4th ring or so, the call would get pushed out so that everyones phone in that department will ring. Is this possible?

Assuming you're using Unity, then Unity will pick up on the original called-number and will put the message in the voice-box of the correct originally called party.

Hope this helps.

This solution depends on if you're using the 7940's as a single line phone or if you have 2 lines configured. This won't work if you have 2 lines configured.

You can set Forward no answer on User 1's phone set to an extension number (shared line) that exists on the dept. phones.

Just a suggestion, but wouldn't putting all the phones in the department into a call pickup group be a better solution?

The ring-all hunt group functionality is not currently available in CallManager. It is promised for CCM v4 due out by the end of the year. There are currently 3rd party apps which can do this or you can use pick-up groups or the RNA forwarding to bounce the call around.

Thank you for your helpful response. Another question is: if I do the RNA forwarding, how will the system decide which user's voicemail will eventually pick up if no one answers at all.

Assuming you're using Unity, then Unity will pick up on the original called-number and will put the message in the voice-box of the correct originally called party.

Hope this helps.
