Route of voice traffic when a call is made.

On a 7940, when a call is made, is the call coming from the CM or the phone to the end device? For Example: does it go, from the Phone to the CM, to the Router to the reciveing router to the CM to the phone?

Re: Route of voice traffic when a call is made.

When a call is made...

*From an IP Phone 1 to an IP Phone 2...

IP Phone 1 to CCM is only Skinny signalling.

IP Phone 2 to CCM is only Skinny signalling.

IP Phone 1 to IP Phone 2 is RTP stream (audio)

*IP Phone to GW

IP Phone to CCM is only Skinny signalling.

GW to CCM VoIP signalling (MGCP,H323,SIP,etc)

IP Phone to GW is RTP stream (audio)(1)

(1) If using H323 an MTP and if CCM is acting as MTP call will be as follows:

IP Phone --RTP-- MTP(CCM)--RTP-- H323 GW
