RSVP over ADSL

Hello everybody.

I have setup Voice over IP through a pair of 827-4V routers and a ADSL standard line.

Voice traffic is fine up to the point where someone injects data traffic. When this happen the jitter makes conversation nearly impossible. This is a expected behaviour if we consider the time it takes the ADSL connection to move a 1500 bytes packet from one point to the other. The time it takes aproaches the maximum delay allowed for a voice connection.

Well, if there is not only one, but many data packets conversation is unaffordable. You hear voice spikes and understand nothing.

I have tried to fix that both lowering the MTU of data and configuring RSVP for the line. The problem is that the recommended method LLQ seem not to be supported by an ADSL interface or I have not found a way to configure it.

Has anyone out there put this to work?. Thanks to all.Miguel.
