RTP/UDP

Maybe this is a basic question, was wondering why when I use IP Communicator and do a capture for Voice, I only see UDP traffic,

If i use other softphone (SIP SJLabs) I see RTP/UDP traffic, why?

Re: RTP/UDP

RTP rides on top of UDP. So it would seem to me like its just the preference of the developers on how they would represent the traffic. RTP rides on top of UDP like TCP rides on top of IP. If you think about it, TCP is just all IP traffic and could be represented as IP traffic, just as RTP could be said to just UDP traffic.

I suppose its just how they chose to display the traffic results.

Hope this helps!
